not special made for the altima), however, I have never seen this type of base on a lamp before.ĭoes anyone know of any aftermarket replacement for these bulbs? It looks to me that they should be a standard part (i.e. It is a small incandescent lamp that twists onto the PCB. I want to replace these with brighter, colored lamps, perhaps LEDs? I removed one of the lamps and took a picture (see next post)ĭoes anyone out there know what kind of lamp this is? the only markings on it are "TOSHIBA V-2" on the back of it. I am interested in the larger, black lamps, marked "ILL" for illumination. What they light up is marked on the PCB next to the fixture (see photo "panel1.jpg") If you don't, you should have enough slack in the wires to allow you to turn the assembly over.īehind the assembly you will find a bunch of brown and black knobs. (I didn't cause it would take some work). There are two additional wiring harnesses attached to the back of the assembly. The Instrument panel assembly is now free.

Be careful not to drop them into the Dash!ħ. With a philips head screw driver, remove the 4 screws at each of the corners of the assembly. You will now see the instrument panel assembly.

Once the top of the bezel is out from under the padded dash, the whole thing is free and you can place it aside.Ħ. Once the switches are disconnected, continue to work the bezel towards you. They are standard harnesses with press clips to hold them in place. Once you have worked it about an inch or so from the dash, look behind the bezel and detach the (1) security indicator light (if you have it), (2) the defroster switch, and (3) the hazard light switch. Gently work the bezel away from the dash, pulling it towards you as you are sitting in the driver's seat. I didn't, so it's not necessary that you do this.Ĥ. You may want to remove the 5 screws holding the plastic housing around the steering wheel column and remove the housing. Do this all around the bezel until it's popped out a little from the dash.ģ. Just push the flat head in between the plastic bezel and the padded dash and pry up gently.the retainer clips will pop and release the bezel.

Using a flat head screw driver or something similar, gently pry up the edges of the bezel at both the left and center air vents. Unscrew the two philips head screws holding the top of the instrument panel bezel to the top of the dash.Ģ.

I'm a newbie, but I just cracked open my dash to see what was behind there.įirst, for anyone who has a 2000-2001 and wants to get to the instrument cluster, here is how I did it (sorry I don't have more detailed pictures):ġ. I like the factory dash, but I think the illumination could be brighter (and blue would be nice.). I've been reading the forums try to figure out if there was a way to just replace the lamps use to illuminate the factory dash.
